Cannot choose axis when assigning in MS Flight Sim

Post by quebby »

Hello there!

I know the mice are not made for gaming, thus it is possible. I just don't get it.
I'd like to use my SpaceNavigator for viewing in MS Flight Simulator. I can choose the 3Dconnexion KMJ Emulator as controller type. Then, I'd have to move the axis when assigning. The controller does work for scrolling, however it does not react when the assignment is waiting.
I have read a lot now about individual configs and have tried this and that, I just doen't see through it.
Can anyone explain me how to do that in simple words?

I thank you very much!

Is the "scrolling" the default action of the mouse wheel? The driver is probably sending mousewheel events. You have to create a cfg for MS FS that says to send joystick events.

You can start with the JoystickTemplate (in the Cfg dir under the 3DxWinCore directory).
To turn a template into a Cfg:
1) Make a copy (say MSFS.xml)
2) Change <AppCfgTemplate...></AppCfgTemplate> to <AppCfg...></AppCfg>
3) Define the ExecutableName. fsx.exe???

I did try FSX many years ago. It worked fine for controlling the plane.
