HP RGS - Space Explorer

Post by natwhite01 »

Hello,

Need some help. Just trying HP's Remote Graphics software (RGS http://www.hp.com/united-states/campaig ... tware.html) and I can't get my Space Explorer to work with it. I know its compatible as there are loads of articles on the internet saying it is. But I can't get it to work.

Many thanks in advance,

Nathan

Hello Nathan -

First ,verify that your Space Explorer is working outside of the RGS software. If you are not using other applications, you can use the installed demos. [Start, All Programs, 3Dconnexion, Demo- Jet Demo]

HP RGS software needs to be installed and configured on both PCs - the RGS Sender and the RGS Receiver . There is an option in the installation "Enable Remote USB - Check this box if USB devices attached to the Local Computer need to be accessible by the Remote Computer".

This HP link gives the basic setup steps. For help with the HP software, you would need to contact their technical support.

Our company has installed a trial version of the HP RGS application. We continue to have an issue where our 3D space navigator on the receiver cannot control our CAD application from the sender.

The space navigator was tested independently on both the sender and receiver with success as both computers have the same version of the driver installed. The receiver has enable remote USB selected.

Could this problem be associated with the fact that the application is a trial version?

Any feedback or advice is appreciated - thanks.

Hello mbouchard -

It is possible the remote USB functionality has not been enabled for the current trial version.
HP RGS support would need to answer that. They work with any support questions for devices connected with their software.

That said, though - have you tried initiating the RGS connection before plugging in the Space Navigator ?
