SpacePilot Pro and Creo

Hi, running Creo 2 on a Win7 machine, just updated the drivers for my SpacePilot, and now it will not remember the setting of the "rotation/translation" buttons when entering different modes...

I lik to have the rotation turned off when in sketch mode, but on in assembly and part mode.... How can I fix this?

All other button mappings/functions are OK...

Any ideas?

The buttons need to be mapped in the 3DxProENGINEER Button Mapping Editor inside Pro/E. This editor is designed to have priority over the more basic editor in the 3Dconnexion Properties panel.

The 3Dconnexion software provides separate configurations for parts, assemblies and drawings - buttons need to be mapped for each configuration. When you switch between the different types of documents the plug-in will switch configurations automatically. If you map buttons while you are working in an assembly ,for instance, then switch to a parts document you will not find the mapped buttons from the assembly configuration. As you noted, you find the defaults. Once you map commands in that configuration, they will be saved to your profile.

If the above isn't working I would suggest you first try resetting to default in the 3Dcontrol panel by going to start all programs, 3DConnexion, 3DConnexion control panel, click on Options restore defaults.
Now close then reopen Creo and see if you can change the settings for each mode

One of the buttons is preset to enable or disable rotations.

If this doesn't work perform a clean install of the drivers

Well, as I stated in my original post:

With this I mean that I can map buttons inside ProE/Creo for each environment (drawings, parts, sketch and assembly), all this is working great.
My buttons are remembered and switching between environments result in change of the mapping layout as it should...

And as you mentioned, there is default a button pre-set for turning on/off the rotations, and I have this set as per default.

The issue is that I want the SpacePilot to "remember" the state of the rotations (on or off) for each environment, so that if I am in assembly (and SpacePilot profile is assembly) with rotations activated, then go into a sketch (and SpacePilot profile is sketch) where I disable the rotations, the SpacePilot should remember this... so that when I go back to the assembly it automatically re-enables the rotations and if I enter sketch mode again it disables the rotations automatically...

I haven't been using a 3d mice for approx. 5 years (used to have the old SpacePilot when working at a different place), just got a SpacePilot here last week, and had the IT-guys installing it (due to corporate restriction regarding admin rights on the IT systems..). It was the installed with the drivers and software from the included CD, which was not the latest version. However, I did use the SpacePilot a few days before updating drivers and software, and in these days I do think that the above mentioned functionality was possible.... but I might be wrong...

Anyways, it would be a really nice feature to have... if it is not already there...

I totally agree! In sketch-mode you never want to rotate your model, so why not a standard setting when going into sketch mode-block the rotation! That would be very handy indeed!
