Difference between Speed and Sensitivity

I was assigning buttons on my Space Pilot Pro (rectangular base) when I noticed that you can assign buttons to change speed and sensitivity separately under the 3Dconnxion commands (see attachment). In the advanced settings panel there is only an option for speed; I see nothing about sensitivity. I'm looking around but I can't seem to find any documentation or questions regarding the difference. Some information would be nice, mostly to satisfy curiosity.

It's all a scale factor. You can't adjust the "sensitivity" of the 3D sensor (at this time). Sometimes other people get involved in naming things and less informative terms get used.

You can adjust the polling rate of the CadMouse though. I might agree that this is a sensitivity change.

It would be neat if sensitivity were a setting similar to mouse acceleration. i.e. what if the movement of the ball (top hat, whatever it's called) translated into motion not in a linear way, but exponentially. This way you could make very fine adjustments but maintain a high speed once you moved the ball nearer to its' limits. Maybe it already does that and I just haven't noticed. :) But that non-linear curve could be modified by "sensitivity."

That's just scaling also. It doesn't change the values that are being sensed from your hand.

The reaction is already non-linear. You have control over that, but it isn't in the GUI.

If you want to play with it, look for lines like
<ResponseCurve>1.00</ResponseCurve>
in the cfg for your app. 1.00 is linear. 1.7 is the default for 3d apps.
