cannot install software

Post by davearcher »

Hello all,

Have been using space navigator for two years without any troubles.
Yesterday I had some free time, I thought that it would be interesting to update the software to the later version.

So I downloaded the new version.

How STUPID OF ME to do that.

Now the software will not complete the installation.
It rolls back because it will not accept the 3DxWare64.msi file.

I spend all afternoon stripping out the registry of all 3dx files, deleting every file related to 3dx, several times over.

Give up.

Try to reinstall using the original CD that came with the Navigator.

Now I have the same troubles all over again =

The file
"A:\win\x64\components64\3DxWare\3DxWare64.msi' is not a valid installation package for the product 3DxWinCore(x64).
Try to find the installation package '3DxWinCore64.msi' in a folder from which you can install 3DxWinCore(x64).

There is the '3DxWinCore64.msi' RIGHT ON THE CD, and still it refuses to install.

How do I install this software ?

Hello davearcher,

I am sorry that you encounter trouble with the installation. It is never a good idea to manually delete installation files or registry entries. I assume that now things are even more messed up. :(

If you know which version of the driver had been installed before you tried to install the latest version I recommend to follow this process:
  1. Install the previously installed version of the driver. (Hopefully successful.)
  2. Reboot.
  3. Uninstall the previous driver version.
  4. Reboot.
  5. Then you should be able to install the latest version.
If the above procedure doesn't work please contact our Technical Support Team. They will ask you to create the log files of the (failing) installation as described here.
