Navisworks doesn't seem to recognize the mouse

After seeing folks in BIM meetings using this product, I bought one for myself. I've had quite a few problems.

After installing the drivers (Windows 7, 64-bit), Navisworks would not open. I uninstalled the 3dConnexion software and Navis would open again. I reinstalled the 3dConnexion software and they again wouldn't open. Ultimately, I tried to open Navis itself (not double-clicking a model file) and it would open. I was then able to open my model.

However, moving the mouse around doesn't seem to do anything in Navis. I've gone through all of the settings and don't see anything wrong. It actually works brilliantly with Google Earth, so I know my computer "sees" it. However, there was a setting in Google Earth to enable a non-mouse controller. I don't see a similar setting in Navis. Help?

Hello Senninha,

from our experience Navisworks supports the 3D mouse devices with no problems.

Which version of Navisworks do you have?
Which driver version is installed?
Which 3Dconnexion device are you using?

While Navisworks is the active window please move the mouse cursor over the 3Dconnexion icon in the system tray. Wait for the little window that shows up. It will show you the connected 3Dconnexion device(s) and the name of the used configuration file. Please let me know which xml file that is. Thanks.

I just got the SpaceNavigator Mouse and installed the driver. The mouse appears to work with revit and all other programs, but it is not working with Navisworks Manage 2016. Any ideas?

I just installed a trial version of Navisworks 2017 and when I launch Navisworks Manage I can navigate the object with the 3D Mouse.

Try removing your existing settings as described here.

Are you launching Navisworks Manage with the same user as the driver is launched?

If this doesn't solve the issue let me know the exact version that you are using. A log file might help to solve the issue.See here how to create one.
