I am running Autocad 2006 on Windows Vista. The only way this runs is with the Autocad installed using the Windows compatability wizard and being run as an administrator. Unfortunately in this mode Spacenavigator does not appear to work with Autocad. No profile appears in the systray. I have downloaded the Autocad plugins and installed these as an Administrator also. Spacenavigator works fine with other applications such as Adobe reader, MS office Word Excel etc but not with the Software package that I need it for the most. I cannot afford to upgrade to Autocad 2008 yet which I think is fully compatible with Vista. I've installed Spacenavigator on an XP (SP2) PC and everything works fine (frustrating). At the moment it looks like Vista is a big backward step for me but most new PCs are shipped with this now!!.
Are there any work arounds/ fixes for my problem?

I installed the Autocad 2006 plugin after I installed the 3dxware. I installed this as an administrator also. I've tried installing latest and previous versions but the problem seems to hinge around the way that I have had to install Autocad 2006 to run on Vista.
It appears that Autocad 2006 is not 'visible' to 3dware when I run it. There is no profile created.
Any other ideas I could investigate?

I've installed the 3DWare driver as administrator and now I have some movement being translated to Autocad which is a positive step.
Only thing now is that not all translations work.
Push and pull zoom are OK.
Pan Up/down gives nothing.
Tilt forward/back gives zoom in/out.
Roll CW/ACW gives pan left/right.
Spin gives nothing.
Also the profile doesn't identify Autocad as such as it does on my XP machine (these problems are all on Vista). It just comes up as an Any application profile.
Also there are no toolbars in Autocad. There are some ARX files in the Autocad plug ins (2006). Are these loaded automatically or do I have to load these applications manually?

Autocad 2006 Vista Spacenavigator PE
There are 2 applications acad3dx16.arx and acad3dx15.arx
I manually loaded acad3dx16.arx using the autocad appload command and hey presto it works.
To sum up what I did in case this is useful for other users.

2. Install the 3dxware software.
3. Install the Acad 2006 plug in.
4. Run the compatability wizard again so that the driver 3DxSrv.exe is run as administrator. You will get a confirmation dialogue asking whwther you want to run this blocked file at start up. Just acknowledge this.
5. In Autocad use the appload command to add the plug in file acad3dx16.arx. Add this to the startup suite.
