Mapkeys not showing up in PROE WF2

Post by bryantwhite »

None of my mapkeys are showing up in the 3Dx Button Mapping Editor within ProE WF2. How do I get it to recognize my mapkeys? I am using a space explorer

Hi bryantwhite,

Can you give us the exact details of your configuration? We need to know if Pro/E is running as a 32- or 64-bit program and the build number (M020, M120, etc).

Hi bryantwhite,

Are you running the 32-bit or x64 build of Wildfire? It is possible to run both on Windows XP x64.

Check the Task Manager. If the process is 32-bit, the image name has "* 32" appended to it.

After trying to double check that I am using a 64 bit system it seems that I am not (at least I cant verify that it is a 64bit system). So lets play this scenario as if it is a 32-bit system.

And I see some process that have "32" at the end of some processes but not the xtop.exe process (ProE process)

This tells us that you're running Windows XP x64 and Pro/E is a 64-bit process.

I believe your problem has been discussed here before. Please see here.

Just to confirm, using the SpaceExplorer to control the view in Pro/E works fine. Your only problem is having all your mapkeys listed on the 3Dx Button Mapping Editor. Correct?

Are you sure I am running a 64bit machine? The reason why I am second guessing this is because no where does it say Windows XP x64. There is a reason why I had originally thought this was a 64bit machine but I wont get into it here, but now I believe this is not a 64bit machine.

As for your question, yes everything works fine. All preset view controls work, but I cant see a list of the mapkeys that i have created in the 3Dx Button Mapping Editor

The "*32" (star-three-two) at the end of the process name is an indication that it is indeed an x64 OS.

Go to the Control Panel and open the "System Properties" panel (found under "Performance and Maintenance"). On the "General" tab, check the information for you "system."

Yep, just like I suspected. No mention of x64 anywhere.

And what is the version information for your "system"?

Hi byantwhite,

For the plug-in and the 3dx button mapping editor to recognize your mapkeys, they need to be in the config.pro file in the initial startup directory of proe. Normally this is "C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\My Documents". You can check which path this is by looking at the properties of the short cut.

I confirmed that the config.pro file is in the start up directory. No change
