hello,
we were talking about 3D Connexion devices on a french blender forums and someone compiled a patch for blender (found here http://projects.blender.org/tracker/ind ... 9&atid=127 ) and he gives the compiled patch free to download :
http://lecocqguillaume.chez-alice.fr/te ... f_test.zip
simply download Blender 2.42, unzip the two files in the .zip archive and put it in the Blender 's folder.
It works like a charm (you can change the overall speed for translations and rotations in the blender preferences )
Now, the question : if we want future official versions of blender to work with 3D connexion devices, the use of the SDK must be GPL compliant. Is there anyway to do something like that ? There are always more and more Blender users and I'm sure a lot of them would buy a 3D device if it works with their favorite program.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
It always is exciting and well-received news to the 3Dconnexion team when we hear of outside developments such as this. We applaud the interest and the effort to provide a solution for Blender.
We will conduct an evaluation ourselves after the first of the year. Stay tuned.

thank you for the answer. It's really nice to see that you're really listening to the community. Since yesterday, we talk a lot about the 3D navigator on the french blender 's forums. I just hope it will be possible one day to add the 3D device compatibility in the opensource official Blender release and so a lot of users will be able to use very intuitive and professionnal devices like yours.
best regards
