spacepilot pro with MS Excel

I am trying to get my spacepilot pro to do some tasks with Microsoft Excel/vba. Is it even possible?
I would like to use the knob to zoom and assign programmable buttons for things like tab button.
I have the latest drivers updated. When I mouse over the task bar icon it shows excel.xml.
I have tried resetting to defaults, still nothing.

Hi kuei,

if you have the latest driver installed you should be able to scroll and zoom in Excel. If you turn the know clockwise and counterclockwise you can zoom your document.

You can map anything to the buttons that can be launched with a keyboard shortcut. See our help file for instructions about the buttons (Help -> SpaceMouse Customization -> Buttons)

I'm also seeking to use spaceNavigator in Excel 2016; I primarily want to scroll horizonally and vertically, and to zoom in/out.

However, I get zero functionality: no scroll no zoom no interaction.
I confirm I have:
-confirmed mouse works outside excel (scrolls in chrome, works 6D wonderfully in solidworks)
-Installed and (re-installed) the latest drivers
-confirmed focus; the spacenavigator appliation says "Microsfot Excel"
-Tried resetting all defaults
-Tried cycling through some non-default settings for the 6D

grateful for suggestions or help, I'd really like to get this working.

Hi tstpy,

did you install the driver with the default settings or have you unselected some of the modules during installation? Note: you need to install "3Dconnexion Add-In for Microsoft Office".

I confirm that I installed with the default settings.

To double-check, I reinstalled the latest drivers (10.4.10 for x64), and confirmed the "Microsoft Office" drivers were indeed checked. Same symptoms:
-no scroll/zoom function at all in excel.
-If I hold the SpaceNavigator full left or right, the full excel window shifts slightly; as if I left_click_dragged the window slightly left or right, but then it snaps back (hard to describe, but like trying to drag a window that's held in place by a rubber band).

Any other ideas on where to look? Can you confirm that Excel scroll/zoom typically functions correctly using this drivers set (10.4.10) in Windows 10 64bit?

Hi tstpy,

yes, I can confirm the setup - I have exactly the same. Which Excel version do you have?

One important point is that the driver and the application have to run at the same user level. See here how to verify that.
