SpaceNavigatorPE crashes CS3 + scg-problem

Post by kmies »

Hi there,
and thanks for the great product, allthought it's not working as I hope ;)

I have two different problems:

1) I use the SN with PhotoshopCS3. It's very nice and useful, but there is one major issue... The PS.CS3 crash every time, in 1 minute or in 1 hour but its sure as sunrise, it will crash. What should I do?

The problem has something to do with the CTRL. When the PS is shutting down and after it seems like some magic finger is pressing the CTRL. After crash I cant do nothing before i've pressed the CTRL.

First I thought it might have something to do with the buttons, but I disabled both but still...

This strange CTRL-problem doesnt exist with any other apps, only with PS.CS3 + SN.

My setup: PC (IBM z60M 2.00ghz w/1.5gb ram), Photoshop CS3 English (v10.0), finnish keyboard, some customed shortcuts.
SN info: release 3.3.6, driver 6.3.3, firmware 3.18, connected straight to the PC's USB, not hub.

Photoshop used to work like a dream til I connected SN :P
I hope there is some trick how to fix this, I can't stop using the PS and I don't want to stop using the SN, it's allmost like a part of left hand :)

2) I tried to customize some functions. There was some great tips&hints on the forum, but still...

If I do some changes (like changing the button actions, the buttons work as I want) but where are the changes saved? I thought there should be some scg-file like myname.scg, user00.scg etc, as the tips on the forum says. But believe me, I can't find any of these! If I manually change some lines in the photoshopcs3.scg the 3dxware and SN works I as want, but if I do some customizing to control panel GUI, changes are saved but I really don't know where! I've looked into 3Dconnection-, c:-, %APPDATA%-etc folders, but there are none .scg-files (except the original ones).

Now the path to the default files is this:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare\en_us\profiles\default
Is this correct? Most posts on the forum says it's not this... :S

And why I'm interested about this... I'd like to do some custom functions AND make the spin to do what I want (zoom or brush size etc). Now I can do the custom functions, but I can't do both because I'm not sure about the right syntax.

Is there any guide for tinkering the scg-files? I'd like to try different functions with the buttons (default functions, custom functions, etc) and most definitely some customizing to the SN (spin zoom, spin to change brush size/brush hardness etc...)

I hope some one could help me with this, I love the SN but the PS restarting is pi$$ing me off :)

Thanks in advance!

Hi kmies

Please try at first to change the layout of your keyboard to amtch the localization of your PhotoShop. If they don't match that could lead to some crashes - but this is a PhotoShop issue. If the keyboard layout matches the localization of your PhotoShop you can change the brush size turning the navigation knob as well.

As the *.scg files they are stored under
C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\profiles
.
