I have a 4000FLX and am having a time trying to set the buttons so they work with my programs. WinXP, Inventor, Alibre etc. They seem to never stay programmed and I tried the latest driver all the way back to one from 2004. No luck
Could someone explain how the assignments happen on the button. I know of the scg file and the place in the registry where the "names' of button definitions are used. But, does the program use the scg files to generate a user profile or is it read every time that program starts? Is there a document that tells of the format of the scg files.....etc
I would like to be able to set buttons with <alt><p> for example.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Manually edit scg files???
Hi adam.n
3dconnexion discontinued support for serial devices. completely. The last release which offers support for serial devices is 3DxSoftware v2-8-2.
The easyest way would be to buy a new device, the prices are very competitive. You would have the advantage of full support for some years (for surely).
Editing the *.scg files isn't so easy, but not impossible. Unfortunately I can't send you such a document.
