After waiting on this bug fix for several years, we finally decided to be realistic. It is too difficult for them, so we got rid of the 3dconnexion mice and bought Spacecontrol mice at the office. Perspective works like it is supposed to with their product! I still use the spaceexplorer at home from time to time and this is the occasion that has reminded me to check back in on the lack of progress at 3dconnexion. They lost our company's business over this. Maybe it will encourage them to fix it for the rest you. Its not impossible. If a competitor can do it, so can they.

Nope. It's not fixed in 10.4.3 either.
Oh, well... better luck next decade.

how about 10.4.5? Solidworks is specifically mentioned in the release notes for 10.4.5

Unfortunately I'm still on the SpaceExplorer and 10.4.3 is the most recent driver for it.

If 10.4.5 or any release from then to 10.4.10 fixes the perspective view I'll upgrade to a new mouse...

This issue is still not resolved in 2017, 3DXWare version 10.4.10

FIXED!!! Well, adequate workaround:

Left button > Properties > Advanced Settings > Other Options > CLEAR the Zoom to Cursor checkbox..

Then go smash that big ol' perspective button:

 ....┌╔╔╔,.
 ║▒╠│`   └└∩MM╓,
 ║∩│╙║░╓       └∩WM╓╓,
 ║░∩∩││╙║░╓        .└└╙W╔µ,
  ╙║N∩∩│││╙║#╔,.  ::::(╓N#║║▒
   `╚#∩│││││┤╚║#NNKKM╙╙╙└∩∩│▒
     └╚║N┤┤┤┤┤┤╠▒∩└::∩∩∩∩∩∩│▒
       └║Ñ┤┤ÑÑ╠║▒∩∩∩∩∩∩∩∩│││▒
         ╙║╠╠╠╠║▒∩∩∩∩∩│││││N▒
           ╙║╠╠║▒∩││││││┤┤┤Ñ▒
            └║║║▒M│││┤┤╡║║╢╚╙
              └║▒░#║║╚╚└`
                ╙╙

It's worth noting that Solidworks also has a bug in that it will zoom IN to the cursor but not OUT.. Zooming in and out will send you sideways.

You'll also want to fix the perspective like this:

- Select Perspective (View toolbar) or View > Display > Perspective.
- Click View > Modify > Perspective.
- Enter 1
- Click OK .

Rats. This worked great for a while, and then went sideways.

Not fixed! All that excitement for nothing.

It's starting to look like 3dconnexion ought to disclose that it's basically only a 4DOF device in Solidworks.

Although this does is not a long term fix: If you set the view to isometric before driving the model, the issue is resolved. I've got a button programmed to place the model in isometric view making things much more effective. Credit goes to an old colleague if you find it helpful.

I made an account just to thank you. This (at least temporarily) fixes the issue of my model laterally flying off into the ether when I'm just trying to zoom. If it doesn't stay fixed, it's a pretty easy thing to just do again.

Is this finally working?

I notice in Solidworks 3D experience 2024x hotfix 2.3 that using any of the 4 fixed view buttons and/or using cntrl+middle-mouse-button pan would temporarily enable perspective view to work, for like a few minutes and it gradually seemed to get out of whack until it was unusable and had to reset with another fixed-view or pan.

But now in Hotfix 3.3 it just seems to be working??

never mind - assemblies still end up coupling the pan and zoom eventually - but parts seem ok? is my memory wrong, or was perspective view not also an issue with parts?
