Focus defaulting to Explorer.exe

Post by ncuts »

I just accidentally figured something out that has been bugging me for a while and thought i would share in case it has annoyed anyone else.

If you open 3d Connection from the "hidden icons" tray in the system tray it will always default to explorer.exe and not the program you have open.

I am on windows 10 and use my 3d mouse for Solidworks. I have always had trouble getting to the solidworks settings for the mouse because every time I would open the 3d connection software from the system tray, it would default to explorer.exe. That was my problem. It was in the "hidden icons" window in the system tray and when that is open it changes focus onto explorer.exe.

So I've found that if this happens, click back to the solidworks window and then back to the 3d connection window and it will be focused on solidworks as it should be.

Or just move the icon in the tray over beside the clock so that its never hidden.

Or open the 3d connection properties window from the start menu with solidworks open.

Anyway this may already be common sense to most people but it has bugged me for a while and i have seen similar posts about this problem in the forums, so if it helps you then great :)

Hi ncuts,

when you click the system tray to open the part with the hidden icons then the focus isn't at SOLIDWORKS anymore. And the driver shows the application which is in focus. Our professional devices have as well a MENU button to start the driver UI. :)
