Space Explorer USB, Inventor 11

Post by SBuurma »

Problem
One of our users experiences strange behavior with his Space Explorer USB in Inventor 11. When he's viewing a Part in Inventor the movement seems to drag and lag. Like it were a slow response to the input movement. However when opening an Assembly the problem is gone.

System spec
OS: XP Pro SP2
3DX-ware: version 3.4.2
Application: Inventor 11 - SP3

Trouble-shooting
We've tried a few things to see if it's device- or driver-related:
  • We've connected another Space Explorer to the system and it showed the same problem.
We've opened the parts and assemblies on another client, no problems there.
We've tried it with and without the Inventor plugin installed...no difference and the problem still exists
We've connected the device also in another USB-port (always directly into the PC, so no hub or dicking station)
Any ideas, suggestions? Or should we directly contact support for more information?

Hi SBuurma,

As far as we are aware, this is first time we hear such a report (lag when using 3D mouse in the part environment only). You may certainly call Customer Service but I do not believe they can help you.

Form your description, it seems that the problem is only reproducible on a specific system? Is that correct? Is is possible that on that system the part environment is set-up differently (different options settings selected)?

Hi ngomes,

It's not possible to reproduce the problem on another client. Our systems are setup identically, also reverted the 3Dx-ware settings to default. Could mouse-settings cause problems with the 3Dxware? IE is the mouse has a trail-setting?

I couldn't find any similar problems whilst searching the forum or internet...

Would an old driver solve anything?

I'll now try and logon as another User and try the same model viewing.

When trying with another User logged into the specific client, the problem seems to be gone... I'll have him test this for a week, after that maybe request the IT-department to clear his profile and try again.
