Cannot get SN/PE working in Google Earth flight simulator

Post by terrypin »

I bought the product specifically for use with Google Earth, and am now gradually improving my navigation skills.

But I just cannot get it working in when I switch to Flight Simulator mode. I do hope I'm right in assuming it should do so, and that someone will tell me how please.

If I'm wrong, and it doesn't support this mode, why not? And when will it be able to do so please?

Hi Terry,

Google has not integrated support for our devices in Flight Simulator mode. But in my opinion, the Flight-Simulator-mode is just an simulation of our devices ;-)
Only Google theirselves know, if and when they plan to integrate support into Flight Simulator mode. Unfortunately I can give you only this answer.

Thanks, appreciate the reply. However, I'm not sure I follow. I'm an end-user, not a programmer, so perhaps I am being naive, but are you saying that 3DConnexion are responsible only for the physical unit, not the software/drivers to ensure it works properly? Take that longish list of 'applications' - predominantly drawing programs. Did all of those get 'supported' by their respective developer, not by you?

Can't say I find this split responsibility very satisfactory. It leads to a 'passing the buck' scenario, with the frustrated customer in the middle.

I hope you do not get frustrated. It depends on the application. For example when you install your device, you got the option to install serveral plug-ins for several applications. These Plug-Ins are developed by us and, if there is a problem or a feature request, we are able to improve them.
But there is also an SDK, so that every programmer is able to integrate our device into his own application and he can take care of feature requests given by his customer. In this way, the list of supported applications is growing and you can use more and more applications with our devices.
