Are Touchscreens a problem?

Post by alrobnett »

I got my Spacenavigator today and cannot get my Toshiba Tablet to respond to it. The extreme skiing demo responds to the tablet stylus pen, but not to the Spacenavigator. Also, the calibrate function on the Spacenavigator control panel responds to the stylus pen, but not to the Spacenavigator.

Any ideas?

Allen

Hi Allen,

As far as I know, the extreme skiing demo does not support 3D navigation devices. How did you figure out that the calibrate function responds to the tablet stylus pen, what happens exactly?
Does your SpaceNavigator work with our demos?

Please also check the device-manager if all devices (SpaceNavigator, tablet, stylus pen) are recognized.
To check which hardware is connected to your Windows system, please follow the procedure below. You may need to login as an "administrator" or as a user with the necessary permissions.

Open the Device Manager
Select the "Human Interface Devices" category
Check the "Details" tab for all "USB Human Interface Device": the SpaceNavigator will be shown with "Device Interface Id" of: USB\VID_046D&PID_C626\...

Thanks for your reply, Robert.
The problem has been resolved. The SpaceNavigator functions properly with Sketchup and GoogleEarth. I am surprized that the SN demo includes the extreme skiing picture, which does not respond.

I missed that you were talking about the Quicktime VR demo.
To get it working you should
A) Install the latest Version of Quicktime (available here)
B) Run the 3Dconnexion Update Wizard (right-click on control panel in the system tray) - hit "Next - Continue"
C) Restart your Browser
D) Re-open the demo
