Spaceball 4000FLX and 3ds max 9

Is there a plugin for 3ds max 9 that will allow my Spaceball 4000FLX to work? It works fine in 3ds 7! I've looked for the plugin on my own, but found nothing (obviously). Thanks for your time.

As your device is a serial device the newest releases of 3DxSoftware don't offer support for such devices any more.

I could only advise you to buy a new device with USB interface.

Hello i have bought a Spacemouse 4000 by mistake last week i believed it was a 5000... now i have to make it work with my 3dsmax 9, i was really disapointed when i saw there was no driver support with new releases of my software. Is it to make more money ?
Is possible to make it work ? is there a way to hack the driver to do it ? Thanks for your replies. JB

Yes there is a way to make it work. Install the 2.8.2 software, this is the last version they claim works with the 4000FLX.

Download the latest software (3-5-6) and extract the installer with winzip (or something similar)

Run the installer but only select the Max 9 plugin, deselect everything else.

I have got Max9 and 2008 working with the 4000FLX using this method, which I am sure they knew about but chose to keep quiet.

Great way to make 3d Cnxn 400 flx driver works on Max 2009 and sketchup. I was about to buy a new device 3d but these simple notes Leec22 helped me a lot.! Congratulations!
