update asking for missing msi file

Post by moscatomica »

I'm trying to update or install latest driver build for the Space Navigator. I'm using XP sp2 32-bit. I unistalled the previous driver and deleted my prefs and the registry keys that were mentioned in a previous post. Didn't work. When I try to install a new version which I downloaded to my desktop, it asks me find the 3DxWare.msi file. It doesn't exist on my system so the install ends there, incomplete.

Hi moscatomica,

try to download the actual package here.

How is the file on your Desktop named and how big is it?

To get this driver removed successfully go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301

Download the Windows Installer cleanup tool Save it to your desktop.
Next before installing close all running applications.
Next install the file.

To access the cleanup tool after installing go to start programs Windows Install Cleanup tool

Only select 3Dconnexion and 3dconnexion plugins.
Select the first file and then select remove.
Continue removing each of the 3dconnexion files and plugins.

You may find 1 file that is a [] with nothing in its description.
This is usually the culprit which prohibits files from being deleted by the add remove program.
You can remove this as well.
Next close out of the application and install the current driver
