navigator only works w/control panel in foreground

just received my spacenavigator pe today. dissapointing to find out that it only seems to function with the control panel open in the foreground. I've tried it with adt 2007, inventor 10, & google earth all with the same result.

I'm using windows xp professional running in Virtualbox with guest additions installed. I have the most up to date spacenavigator drivers installed from the web-site. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi josh,

What Hostsystem do you use? I personally have not tested whether our device works inside VirtualBox or not.
You could try to disable the guest additions just to see if it depends on them.

Robert,

Host System=
Linux version 2.6.23-ARCH (gcc version 4.2.2) running XFCE4 desktop manager

Guest System=
WinXp Professional SP2
running on "VirtualBox Graphical User Interface Version 1.5.2"
with guest additions installed

Per you suggestion I've un-installed the guest additions software on the host system(winXP) and disabled the mouse integration feature. The spacenavigator has exactly the same behavior with adt 2007. Works perfectly as long as the spacenavigator control panel is in the foreground. I also use a logitec "Cordless Click" optical usb mouse not sure maybe this is contributing to the problem. Seems like there should be a simple solution to this issue.
