3dsmax 8 Object movement problem

Post by malojo »

Hi,

I just installed the Spacenavigator PE and I use it with 3dsmax 8 SP3.
Rotating and Panning in the Perspective View work great.
When I click "Enable Object Movement" nothing happens. I can't move my model, movement within polygons or vertexes also have no sucess.

What am I doing wrong. This is very important for me.

I think I found the problem.

When I try to move linked objects it does not work. If I unlink or move tje root note it works.

But besides this, is there a way to move some vertices or polys with the SpaceNavigator?

I second this, as soon as an object is child to another I cannot move it using my SpaceNavigator. (this is true for 3dsMAX 8 & 9 32bit)
Object movement works fine as long as the object is not child in a hierachy.
So I found that I can bypass this by not linking the object directly, but creating a "link constraint" to the (would be) parent.

I am not sure if I can use this in every situation though, and I will have to touch a lot of rigging to bypass this.
Maybe someone could look into this?

Hi fexman,

we have to see if we can reproduce this. Please be patient. If we have more information I will post it here.
