SPACE TRAVELER DRIVER ERROR #1603

Post by Wes »

I EMAILED TECH SUPPORT FRIDAY MORNING CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE.

PROBLEM UPDATING DRIVER FOR SPACE TRAVELER ON MY LAPTOP TO V3.5.6 (WINXP SP02) FOR 2008 SOLIDWORKS SP01

I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE DRIVER AGAIN. INSTALLED AGAIN AND REC'D "ERROR 1603". I UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED WITH SAME RESULT, I REBOOTED, UNINSTALLED, REBOOTED AND INSTALLED AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTING ERROR 1603.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

At which point is the error coming up during the install?
Does it come up when you go to install a certain plugin?

Did you have a previous Driver installed?

If so part of that installation may have been corrupted i would recommend you go to this link and follow the instructions.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301

Run the installation before using the application
Go to Add remove programs
if you have a previous driver installed uninstall.
Next go to
Start
Programs
Windows install cleanup
Look for 3DConnexion
Click and select remove

P.S Be very carefull you donot delete anything else
If you see a file that has a [] and no descrition you can remove it it is a partial registry entry this may be the culprit.

Next reinstall the new driver.

Fred, thanks so much for the help on this one. You were right on with the MS Install Cleanup. Apparently, the Connexion SW Add-in was disfunctional and was not being uninstalled. The "MS Cleaner" fixed that and with the latest driver my SPACE TRAVELER is working fine on my laptop. I still have to load SW2008 on my workstation and expect I'll have the same problem with my Connexion 5000 there. Will forward your post to one of my User Group members as he is having trouble with his Connexion 8000 and SW2008.
Thanks again, Wes Cobb
