And have you rebooted more than once since the last driver installation?

I'm only too aware of how silly the above question appears to be. Please bear with us while we try to get some sense of what is going on.

This is very odd. We don't know why some customers have to reboot twice after installation. It doesn't make any sense.

BTW,

Just for information.
Since the last one or two? Beta Drivers,
(and or Firmware)
after a reboot,
I have to unplug and plug back in my CADMouse to work.

I know, I use such a forbidden USB HUB,
as I have no free real USB,
but interestingly my old original Space Navigator
in this case is recognized and active as before.

I haven't updated SpaceNavs Firmware though so far,
which I did for CADMouse and Enterprise.

We can only support devices connected directly to machines as external USB hubs can show weird behaviour. Having that said, I'd expect any reasonably quality hub to work well with our devices.

Why do you need to re-plug after boot? Are the buttons not working or is there something else like the mouse pointer not moving?

If you trying using your CadMouse (still connected to the external hub) without a driver installed, do you still need to re-plug your device?

I have to unplug because the mouse is dead.
It is completely ignored.

My USB HUBS shows an LED for each connected device.
I have only input devices (better all my USB 2 legacy stuff) attached to that hub.
The rest of Trash Cans 4x USB3 plugs is needed for faster USB3 devices.

After a restart, that CADMouse port's LED does not light,
while those for Space Navigator and Keyboard do.
When I unplug and plugin CADMouse after the Big Sur Desktop Environment started,
the CADMouse port's LED will light up and CADMouse work as expected.

It looks just like CADMouse would be invisible or overseen while macOS initial
hardware recognition while booting. While other USB input devices are recognized.

This looks like an electrical problem.

Did you also try after uninstalling the driver? Does the device work well without a driver installed?

With the next reboot,
I will try an origin USP Port or the USB 3 Ports at my Wacom Cintiq.

But for now my assumption is just that, especially newer 3DConnexion devices
like CADMouse or Enterprises work a bit complex and don't behave like regular
simple USB input device. At least from a Mac standards perspective.
Like the CADMouse, without installed drivers, on Mac doesn't even provide the
most basic 2-3 Button click input, opposed to any other USB Mouse I plugged
in without their special drivers. Like a Microsoft Logitech or no name Mouse.

Seems less of a problem on Linux (and Windows?) where usually no input device
drivers and Settings per App are available at all.
But e.g. my MadCatz Rat5 works well out of the box in Linux though.
3 Buttons, Scroll Wheel and forward/back buttons.
Same on Windows, while on macOS that Mouse will even prevent Menu Sub
entries opening when hovering, for some reasons.

This isn't the case after upgrading the CadMouse firmware to version 1.06.

All CadMouse models with recent firmware are expected to work as a regular mouse without an installed driver in all versions of macOS.

The driver is only needed to use advanced devices features (key emulation, macros, radial menus, etc) and to support specific applications like Maya, Onshape or SketchUp.

OK; haven't tested that, as I have the driver installed anywhere.
But that is great !

I did my tests.
- CADMouse on direct USB port wakes up after reboot fine
- CADMouse on any powered USB HUB on Mac Big Sur does not wake up (USB HUB and Wacom Cintiq)
- Any other Input device does wake up after a reboot no matter if direct USB or any kind of HUB
(Including original Space Navigator USB)

Sorry to insist, zoomer, but can you use your CadMouse connected to the USB hub after uninstalling the driver?

I believe the driver is irrelevant but we won't know unless you try. In all likelihood, there's some electrical incompatibility between the CadMouse and the hubs.

I am on build 3288 and on macos 11.0.1
I can confirm that the modifier keys on the Spacemouse Enterprise still. don't work. that i can tell.
when in zbrush shift should swap to the smooth brush .. keyboard shift keys work..
ones on the 3d mouse DO NOT.

were these supposed to work?

Not sure if I had my mouse pluged in when I installed the first Big Sur Driver Beta.
But pretty likely I had my mouse plugged in when I installed any beta driver update.

I don't want to uninstall my driver and reboot now.
But I could try in the near future.

If I am really the only one noticing that behavior, that may be a reason.
(But I have often read threads about the need to re-plug after a reboot on this forum
for certain users, not certainly CADMouse only ? Enterprise too ? and maybe not necessarily
Mac users but Windows users too?)

I just want to point out that the original Space Navigator is relatively unimpressed by
such issues.

I have the Enterprise attached to the PC again as there weren't any updates mentioned
so far for Enterprise, but I will attach it to Mac again when there are any news.

Sure. If you ever get around to test this, it will be an interesting data point.

Thanks for you assistance, zoomer. This is very much appreciated.

We expect modifier keys to work in Keystroke actions (but not in "2D Mouse" actions) as of beta "11" (revision r3288).

Can you tell us what exactly you're trying to do in ZBrush?

Also, is the issue limited to that application?
