Space Traveler3 InventorR2008 Problems

New Space Traveler3 Driver 6.5.6 problem with InventorR2008, it will not keep the config settings when swithing windows, then going back to IV. The old driver didn't have issue. I now have it set not to save config and every time I switch windows, I get a message asking me if I want to save. I've tried also to save the default to my settings and the new file it creates everytime to the same settings. It always gets overwritten and goes back to default (nothing) settings. It is very much an issue, anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like you are using the 3DxWare GUI to change settings. You should only be using the 3DxInventor plugin to make changes. It could be because 3DxInventor is not installed properly. Try reinstalling it in the Add/Remove Panel or updating it via the 3Dconnexion Update Wizard.

Yes, I believe I am using the GUI, how exactly do you use the plug in to make changes? I will do somemore digging. Thank You for the response.

Ok, I seemed to figure out how to do that by going into the button mapping editor. The good news is that it seems to work for now. My question is now, why can you alter/save things from the control panel/gui if it it doesn't have no effect or the wrong effect?

Truthfully, we do everything we can to make sure you can't access the 3DxWare (driver) GUI when the 3DxInventor plugin is installed. It works quite well when you use the GUI that the plugin creates. It knows about application modes, internal Inventor commands, gets saved correctly, etc.

Still, for one reason or another people get access to the driver GUI and mess up our best intentions <G>. Actually, it is possible to do useful things using both GUIs. But that should be considered in the "advanced user" category. You have to understand the interaction between the two ...and very few people do (including me half the time).

The bottom line is, just use the Inventor GUI and be get the most out of your 3D mouse.

Well, changing the information in the IV plugin does does seem to stick better but now I have another issue. I have an issue in the control panel. The only reason I went in there is because it had quit working. For the place where it lists the buttons for program that you are in. I usually have just the two to choices to choose from:
Any Application
Inventor

When I look in there when it's not working I have three choices:
Any Application
Inventor (the buttons under here are what I want)
Inventor - username (the buttons under here are blank)

I've tried deleting the Inventor - username, but it keeps reappearing
I've also tried to set the buttons in there to what I want them to be, but they keep getting overwritten back to the blank setting. Any Ideas?

This is fine. Each time you make a change using the "Button Mapping Editor" panel in Inventor, the driver configuration will be changed and saved as 'Inventor - <user>".

I've also tried to set the buttons in there to what I want them to be, but they keep getting overwritten back to the blank setting. Any Ideas?

What can you see on the "Button Mapping Editor" (BME) in Invento? Note that the mapping will change depending on the loaded environment. If there is no open document, then the default environment is loaded (named "Inventor").

You can access the BME panel from the "3DxInventor" toolbar.
