SpacePilot when zoomed in

Post by fostertom »

When zoomed in (Sketchup) I'm having difficulty navigating.
For example a rotate seems to be about some distant axis, so what I'm looking at shoots sideways out of view. I want to easily spin what I can see on screen, and have it stay on screen.

Hi again fostertom,

You can set various "Center of Rotation"-settings in SketchUp under "Plugins->3DxSketchUp":

Auto Center of Rotation

When selected, automatically sets the Center of Rotation to just under the center of the screen.

Center of Rotation on Selection

When selected, sets the Center of Rotation to the selected object or sub-object on your screen.

Center of Rotation

After selecting this icon, the a colored square according to the relative axis will appear under the cursor when you point to a position on the model. Selecting on the model will set the center of rotation until you change it again.

You can also access this selection by right-clicking on the model and selecting 3DX: Center of Rotation. Right-clicking again gives you the option to exit the current Center of Rotation setting or to Reset to Origin.

Which Version of Google SketchUP do you use?
