VIZ 2008?

Post by Dace »

Has anybody had success in implementing a 3Dconnexion device in Autodesk VIZ 2008? I have a SpaceExplorer and a recent install of VIZ, but can't seem to get VIZ to work with my device.

In my experience VIZ has been similar enough to MAX that the MAX drivers would work when placed in the relevant VIZ folders, and my device would work with older versions of VIZ.

However, following the "readme" for installing MAX 2008 drivers for my new copy of VIZ 2008, yields error messages about the DLU and the MS files. Once VIZ loads, I see no way to access/use the device in the "utilities" menu.

Thoughts? Is VIZ that different than MAX in this release that the drivers don't work? Or have I overlooked something in the install?

Thanks,
Dace

Viz never required a plugin to work it was natively supported in the application. You should remove the files you imported in.
Verify the 3D Mouse is enabled within your application.

Hi Dace,

Please undo your manual installation and then repair 3DxWare (Right-click on the 3DxWare icon and select "Update Wizard -> Next -> Continue").
I think VIZ 2008 makes use of our "3Dconnexion Plug-in for 3ds Max 9".

rstadie and Fred,
thanks -- that did it!
(FYI it took repairing both 3DxWare and VIZ 2008 for it to work)
