SpaceNavigator and Solidworks 2008 Student Edition in Vista

Hi All,
I recently purchased a SpaceNavigator thinking that it might help reduce repetitive strain with use of Solidworks 2008 student edition. However, it doesn't seem to work in Solidworks. It does appear to work fine in Google Earth and Sketch Up though.
In Solidworks, I have a menu for "3Dcontrol," under which only three items are available: Toolbar, Properties, and Customize Menu. Grayed out are: Export, Import, Next Configuration, Previous Configuration, Pan/Zoom, Tilt/Spin/Roll, and Dominant.
I have tried opening Tools -> Add-ins -> and unchecking "3Dcontrol" -> Ok, then doing the same to renable "3Dcontrol," but to no avail. I'm not sure where to go next.

I should add that my SpaceNavigator works fine with eDrawings (from Solidworks), and that I am using the latest version of the 3dxware.

By default Vista does not allow programs to run with administrator rights. Solidworks must be run with administrator rights, which means any program that interfaces with it must also have the same privileges. This can be assigned by editing the properties for 3dxsrv.exe:

locate the file right click and select properties
next click on the Compatibilty tab
select Run the program as administrator
