Perspective viewport problem Spaceball 5000 & 3dsMax 9

Post by Hillmeister »

Just suddenly my perspective viewport seems to stop.

With the 3ds max controls I can navigate my Persp. Viewport, but when I start moving the Spaceball, the viewport jumps to a sort of topview (when I check my axis) without anything displayed. I can't navigate anymore. Ortho.views still work?

When getting back to 3dsmax controls perspective viewport displayes my scene again as long as I don't touch my Ball.

Please Help

Tried the latest driver update, no news!

Hi Hillmaster

Please try to rezero your device, in the newest release you will find a button called "Calibrate" (on the driver GUI under "Device Configuration").

Please post afterward to share your experience.

Perspective viewport problem Spaceball 5000 & 3dsMax 9

Hi Hillmeister

Does the problem happen with a certain model/scene, or with arbitrary ones?

Could you describe a scenario which I could use to reproduce?

Well I just reinstalled 3dsmax 9 with both servicepacks and the latest 3dconnexion driver

After startup, the first touch of the Spaceball results in this annoying Top view from 0,0,0 in the Perspective viewport.

I'm afraid I have to put the mouse aside

Problem Solved!!

I think with a crash the standard object controller got defaulted to Xref controller. I think 3dxware makes a dummy for the view, which in my case got the default Xref controller and got stuck on 0,0,0 (like what happens with the Xref controller). Also Transforms are not possible, so that's probably why the view was locked / stuck.

Default object controller set back to Transforms/Rotation/Scale

Thanx
