Hi all,
The following test was done on x3 PC workstations with the same results. (x1 PC NVIDIA GFORCE GTX 980/x2 PCs' GTX 560 each)
I found that by simply changing 3ds Max's display driver from Nitrous to either "Legacy Direct3D 9.0" or "Legacy Open GL" , fixes the selection bug issue in Max 2014 when moving the scene around - even using the latest 3dconnexion drivers! The downside is a slower screen response time. So is this bug related to Max's Nitrous driver then? In Max 2015-16 it's fine with Direct X Nitrous enabled. (my last Spacemouse pro had a loose cap and was replaced under warranty and had the same issue in Max 2015/16 as well, the replacement however is fine - for some odd reason.
AND THE REALLY BIG SURPRISE - I borrowed a *************** (..................) and discovered that in Max 2014, the selection issue is significantly worse than 3Dconnexion's Spacemouse Pro, but fine when disabling Direct X Nitrous!!! So what the bleep is happening here? In Max 2015-16 it's fine with Direct X Nitrous enabled.

Re: Solution to 3ds Max's object selection bug FOUND!
Mentioning a competitor's 3d mouse simply aimed to establish that your 3d mouse is not the only 3d hardware affected by this bug - reinforcing my theory that Max's Nitrous may be the cause of the trouble.
