3DxWare vs Microsoft Picture Manager

Post by Nicklas A »

Hello there..
I have bougt a spacenavigator and installed the software, also the picture viewer..
The problem comes when i open a picture with the viewer and would like to edit this.. As usual i press the Ctrl+E to edit picture.. and here it chooses MS Paint as the program to edit with.. i then tryed to locate the Microsoft Picture Manager afterwards, but it had vanished!
Anyone else having trouble with this?
Any suggestions on how to get my manager back?
I use MS Picture Manager for small edits and photoshop for big edits..

Hi Nicklas,

you could try the following for Windows XP:

A) Click 'start'-'run'...
B) Type "regedit" (without the qutoes)
C) Click OK
D) Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\image\shell\edit\command
E) Mark the default-entry and click 'File'-'export' to backup this entry
F) Now right-click on '(default)' and click 'modify'
E) Enter the Path to your favourite picture-editing-executable followed by "%1" [For example I use "C:\Program Files\IrfanView\i_view32.exe" "%1" ]
F) Close regedit

*UPDATE*
This works only for the default PictureViewer. I will follow this up and let you know.

thanks for you respons..
I found the regedit file and tryed to modify the favorite picture editing program, but here i lack a shortcut to the microsoft picture manager, which follows the standart office 2003 package
maybe i should try and reinstall office 2003?

Unfortunately it is currently not possible to change the default editing-program inside the 3Dconnexion Picture Viewer. Perhaps this will change in future versions - thanks for your feedback!
