Can't create Objects in orthogonal windows

Post by malojo »

Hi,

wenn I use the spacetraveller within the orthogonal views to pan or to zoom I can't create new objects by using Autogrid in the scene.

Is there a way doing this?
Going back to the original ortogonal views is bad because I have to reposition the view again without using the traveller.

I use 3dsmax 8.

Hi malojo,

can you please give me step-by-step-instructions how to reproduce this issue?

Hi,

1. Open a new Scene
2. Go to the Left Window
3. Zoom and pan with the traveller
4. try to create a box.

The same is within the front window. The top window works well.

Thanks for the description malojo!

Yes your are right, 3ds Max 8 and 9 show this behaviour - it is fixed in 3ds Max 2008. You can bind "left view" to your SpaceTraveler for instant "reset" of the left view - perhaps that helps. Unfortunately I have no other solution for you :(

I am not sure what you mean I should do. You can describe it?

What I described is just a workaround for the old 3ds Max versions. To get this "fixed", you need to upgrade to the current version of 3ds Max.

But perhaps this will help a bit:

A) Open 3ds Max
B) Open the 3Dconnexion Control Panel (double-click on the taskbar-icon)
C) Open the "Button Editor" inside the Control Panel
D) Navigate to the Command-Category "3DxStudio"
E) Choose the "Left View" command
F) Drag and drop this command to one of your SpaceTravelers buttons

This button will now reset the current view to the default.
