Issues with ProE Wildfire 2.0 on 64 Bit Windows XP

Post by mrobleman »

Do the current Space Explorer and Space Navigator drivers support ProEngineer Wildfire Version 2.0 M260 on 64 bit Windows XP?

Ive tried both the generic and specific ProE 3dfx drivers, all of which crash ProE on repeated attempts to access the 3dfx panel by pressing the "Panel" button.

Our company does not yet support Wildfire version 3 and we have need to get these 3dmice working with Wildfire 2.0.

Hello mrobleman,

Sorry, PTC didn't fully support 3Dx devices on x64 until WF3. It may still work but you can't use 3DxProENGINEER (the 3Dx plugin that adds a GUI and mode-specific button support). Try unistalling 3DxPROE by doing a custom installation on 3DxSoftware in the Add/Remove Panel.

Let us know if it still crashes after you remove that. You may have to make a small modification to the 3DxProE.scg file.

Thanks for the prompt response!

I have already removed the 3DxPROE through the custom installation on the drivers, and still run into the same problem where repeated attempts to access the 3dxf menu cause ProE to crash (crashes after 4 or 5 attempts). Might the modification to the 3DxProE.scg file you mentioned remedy this? If so could you let me know what the modification would consist of?

Thanks in advance,

Give this a try:

1) Change the APP_CONTROLS_BUTTONS value to FALSE in your 3DxProE.scg file.

2) Change your menu button from Application Panel to 3DxWare Panel (use the GUI to do this).

Make sure you use the default 3DxProE.scg file, not your saved userXX.scg file.

I actually think there is a bugreport into PTC about this crash.

Let me know if this helps.
