How can I change the USB port assigned to my SpacePilot?

Hi all,

Ok, I have been trying to install RBC9's driver but failed miserably. I did notice however, some strange behaviour related to that festival of fun. I originally installed my SP on a USB port directly connected to the motherboard (Asus A8N32 SLI Deluxe) and it installed fine, used it for ages, no problem. Now, I decided in a moment of madness to try the SP in a known working hub to see if it would work that way but no luck. I uninstalled RBC9, unplugged the SP from the hub and back into the original USB port but it isn't detected! I've uninstalled the 3DxWare (latest), rebooted, scanned for new hardware etc. Nothing. The only way it will work is to plug it back into the hub, then it works fine.

Other than this little problem, the SP works as before so I'm not without it but I'd like to know what the cause is if anyone has seen this before. Is there some way in Vista Ultimate to force the system to forget what device was plugged into what port between installations? I've done the re-scan for hardware dance in device mangler and it finds nothing. Is there a registry setting which is telling the 3Dxware the wrong port?

Hi Smiler,

3DxWare doesn't remember which USB port the SP was attached on. Each time it starts, it enumerates the USB ports until it finds one that a 3Dx device is attached on. In your case, the original USB port is probably unavailable because it is still messed up from RBC9's driver. There is probably something still left installed. I have no idea how to clean that up.
