Can't override the button defaults for AutoCAD 2017

Post by acandd »

So I open up my shiny new CAD Mouse, install the 3dxWare software and re-assign the middle mouse button and both side buttons. I made middle mouse button ESC, and assigned macros to the two side buttons for F3 and F8. I go into AutoCAD and it does not recognize my changes. The buttons are defaulting to the AutoCAD specific functionalities (middle mouse button is mouse wheel click, and the side buttons are for quickzoom).

My questions:

1) How do I setup a software specific profile so the buttons can behave different for each software?
2) How do I override the functionality of the mouse in AutoCAD so the reassignments I have made in the 3DConnexion software work?

Thank you!

Hello acandd,

the button mapping for the CadMouse is always application specific. If you make a change the change will only be valid for the application that is shown at the top of the window. This is the last active window. So if you want to make a button mapping for AutoCAD you have to run AutoCAD and will only be then able to make the changes for AutoCAD.

All settings in Advanced Settings are global settings.
