Found New Hardware Wizard every start/restart

I have many 4000FLX SpaceBalls in use in a rather large Engineering Department.

I am the IT Tech guy in charge of this department, it's hardware, software, data-storage, and connectivity (as well as all the rest of my duties).

All computers with a 4000FLX have the hardware, software, and drivers installed correctly.

Some computers start the "Found New Hardware Wizard" for the SpaceBall every time they are started or restarted.

We've done complete unistall/reinstalls. We've completely cleaned out all instances of the SpaceBall software, drivers, and registry items and reinstalled the SpaceBall. We've upgraded to the newest drivers/software provided by 3DConnexion.

We've installed from the website, we've installed by saving and running from the local machine.

In short we've done about everything that we know and that the tech's at 3DConnexion have recommended.

Does anyone have any clue, or has anyone had to deal with this issue?

Just hitting cancel to the "Found New Hardware Wizard" on every restart/start is not the answer I'm looking for.

I think the 4000FLX had a way to turn off Plug-n-Play, but that was more 10 years ago, so I don't recall how to do it.

The device is waking the PnP manager because it is responding to the PnP request sent out to all serial devices. If we shipped an .inf file for the device you could try deleting that. There may also be a way of excepting the device from PnP, or turning off serial PnP.
