Where is the Picture Viewer?

Post by dschaefer »

I just won a SpaceNavigator in a raffle at my local Pro|E user group. I'm pretty happy as I've wanted to give it a try for some time now.

I'm curious about the image viewer program. I downloaded the latest driver and installed it and indicated that I wanted the image viewer installed, but it doesn't appear to be on my system. Going to Start -> All Programs -> 3DConnexion -> Picture Viewer there is only a readme file.

I'm running Windows XP Pro.

Hi dschaefer,

it's there. 8) Just open a picture (as Phil999 mentioned). Either you associated the pictures during the installation process to be opened with the 3Dconnexion Picture Viewer or you select your picture with the right mouse click, select "Open with ..." and then choose the "3Dconnexion Picture Viewer" from the list.

I chose not to associate the viewer with all image files at installation.

I have been using the Picasa viewer which I'm happy with. Until I had a chance to try it, I didn't want the 3DConnexion viewer to be the default.

We were typing at the same time. :P

There is no "3Dconnexion Picture Viewer" in the "Open with ..." list.

Do you find it when you select the last item "Choose Program ..." in the "Open with ..." list? You might have to scroll a bit down to the list "Other Programs:".

Ah, there it is. Why isn't it in the Start menu?

Anyway, rather underwhelming. Glad I kept Picasa as the default.

you can zoom and pan with the SpaceNavigator in the 3dx viewer. Very useful, although I use other viewers as well. I wish it was present in Vista too.
