SpacePilot PRO is not a Windows SideShow-compatible device

Post by Bryan »

Dear giga3d,

The SpacePilot PRO is not a Windows SideShow-compatible device. That is why you do not find it functioning in that manner. It is not a function that can be enabled.

Sincerely,
Bryan

I read this on http://blog.logitech.com/2009/05/14/win ... keyboards/
One of the most frequently requested features for our GamePanel-enabled devices is support for Windows SideShow. In particular, Windows Vista users have identified the G19 keyboard’s vibrant color screen as an ideal display for the numerous SideShow gadgets available from Microsoft and other companies. Now, thanks to a collaborative effort with Microsoft’s Windows SideShow team, we are announcing support for this feature.

Yesterday, we launched the new 3.02 software to enable Windows SideShow to work on G-series keyboards and gameboards. This software supports both monochrome and color GamePanel devices, including the G13 gameboard, G15 and G19 keyboards, as well as the Logitech Z-10 speakers and the new SpacePilot PRO from 3DConnexion.
My english is not very good... but I believed to have understood this "news"...

Make sure your using the current driver.
Open Sideshow
Now Open the 3DControl panel
Click on the SpacePilot Pro LCD tab
Click on Launch LCD manager
Click on Programs
Slideshow should appear in the list
Click on Enable

Not sure what needs to be enabled in Slideshow you would have to ask Microsoft on how to enable additional devices.

I've also got the G13 keyboard and after installing the latest software it now lists both the G13 and SP Pro under the sideshow devices.

Haven't yet got either to display anything useful though, just get the icons across the top for outlook calendar and windows media player...

...actually, just tried the media player sideshow sub-app again on the SP Pro and it does allow me to browse my media library by albums, artists, playlists and genres and goto now playing list and current track.

Actually, it does work rather well!

Can't get the outlook calendar sideshow widget to do anything though nor a computer status widget I downloaded.

Just installed the Office 2007 gadgets (http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail. ... &pl=7&bt=8) and the mail and contacts widgets work well - calendar still doesn't seem to do anything though.

Computer status (http://gallery.live.com/liveItemDetail. ... &pl=7&bt=8) works as well. Just tried it once more, you have to have the sidebar version running for the sideshow version to also work.

They can tell you if its compatible and how to enable it.

Yep, I'm okay with the way Sideshow gadgets work, have had them working with the SP Pro and G13 keyboard.
