Rotation centre in Solidworks not OK

I would like the rotation to be about the same centre as when using the mouse. Both auto centre or NOT auto centre create the same effect which is not the same as with a mouse.

How can I achieve this the rotation in not usable. Before it was fine but this is a new install on a new Win7 build in SW2010SP5 using 3DConnexion driver 2.20.1 just downloaded 24 hours ago.

In the SolidWorks Pop-Up Menu turn off-Rotation Center-Auto
Set the Rotation Center manually using "CTRL + middle mouse button".
