Software to share spacemouse between two PCs?

Post by eobet »

I have the following set up at home:

1. Stationary PC on ethernet
2. Work laptop on VPN

I know there's software which allows me to move the mouse cursor from my stationary PC to the work laptop, but I don't know of any software which allows the 3Dconnexion spacemouse to do something similar.

Anyone know of any?

Hi,

I have a similar setup, and I use NoMachine to connect to my remote device. You can add a device that will be passed through. If you have a wireless device, you can't use the USB receiver; instead, you should connect with a USB cable.

Barrier or Synergy can share a mouse and keyboard, but they don’t support 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse. Currently, no mainstream software allows sharing a SpaceMouse across two PCs like that. Only workaround: use remote desktop software (e.g., AnyDesk, Parsec) to control the laptop from the PC.

I’ve been looking into the same thing recently. Unfortunately, there’s no official 3Dconnexion support for sharing a SpaceMouse across multiple machines like Synergy or Mouse Without Borders does for regular mice. One workaround I’ve seen is using USB over network solutions, but latency can be an issue, especially over VPN. If your workflow allows, you might consider using remote desktop software where the SpaceMouse is connected to the main PC and you control the other machine remotely.
