Older Space Pilot USB (SP1USB) with Kicad

Post by Frozen001 »

So I dug out an older Space Pilot (SP1 USB) and I am trying to get it working with KiCad, and It seems off. The only thing that I seem to be able to doo is zoom in and out by tilting up or down. In the 3D view I would expect to be able to rotate, pan , and zoom. Is this jsut because it is an older model? Or am I missing something. Running Windows 11, KiCAD 10, 3DxWare Version 10.4.10

OK So I played around a bit, and using the software I was able to start to map the key to functions, but the actual knob is where I think I would like to do some changing. From searching it appears that I would need to create a custom .xml file. From by trial and error.

1) CTL + Tilt Up needs to be mapped to Push Right
2) CTL + Tilt Down mapped to Push Left
3) Shift + Tilt Up mapped to Push Down
4) Shift + Tilt Down mapped to Push Up
5) Twist mapped to Zoom +/-

I would like to also get the tilt mapped to the 3D viewer the board rotations.

Is there some sort of guide to making a custom XML file?

3Dconnexion did not test previous driver versions such as 3DxWare v. 10.4.10 for Windows with the latest KiCAD software versions.
