missing transport DLL s80trans.dll

Post by mccue »

I've seen other similar posts from people who's buttons stopped working normally and who are getting missing DLL messages. In addition to this error message I also get one that says "The 3DxWare driver is already running." when I start Pro/Engineer. This one shows up 2 or more times during the Pro/E launch. I've enabled logging and posted below. Any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks!

Hi mccue,

which version of ProE do you have?

ProE is launching the driver when you start ProE no matter if it is already running or not. As far as I know this command was deleted from ProE in the latest versions.

This is with WF4. It never used to be a problem, but I'm not sure what changed. Do you think that issue is related to the missing dll message?

The error "Could not load transport DLL s80trans.dll" occurs when there is either another program is using the file s80trans.dll or an anti-virus application is blocking it.

The 3Dconnexion software needs to be installed installed from a profile with full administrator privileges. If this is a network PC and you do not have full administrator rights, an IT tech would need to do the installation.

If you are installing the software from CD, you should instead download the current software from our web site at http://www.3dconnexion.com/support/downloads.php

Save the software to your PC then make sure you are logged in from an administrator profile.

To resolve the error " Could not load transport.." it is important to make sure all background applications are closed during the installation. One type of applications known to interfere in this way are programs to configure your standard mouse such as the MouseImp program. You need to turn the software off during the installation then you can turn it back on after the 3Dconnexion device is installed.

This type of background program can be turned off either from its SystemTray icon or using msconfig to temporarily prevent it from starting. If you are not sure which of the background applications may be causing the problem Microsoft has 'clean startup' steps here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

The other type of application that causes this type of .dll error is anti-virus/spyware applications. If this is a personal PC it is best to disconnect from the internet then turn all of the security software to complete the installation.

HI, I had the same problem in the Win 8, then I download the latest drivers and installed it, but is still didn't work,

then I removed the old software from control panel and reinstalled again,

now it works just fine.
