SOLIDWORKS 2014 SUPPORT

Post by jalcad »

I see with the latest driver download (3.17.4) that support was added for Solidworks 2014 Beta. When trying to use 2014 & customize the buttons, there is no list of commands to choose nor do the button configurations from 2013 work either. Also when I use 2014 & then close & open 2013, the 3D Control addin gets turned off in 2013.

Hi jalcad,

Support for SolidWorks 2014 Beta has been release in 3.17.6 (not 3.17.4). Can you please confirm the version that you have installed?

I double checked & I was still at 3.17.4 even though I used the update wizard to update it to 3.17.6. I had to download the complete file & update it that way & it does now have 2014 support. Thanks.

The update wizard will check on-line for the latest version but will not actually install (it will proceed to repair the current installation). The tool's name may have misled you.

Do you still the issue where the add-in is disabled in SW2013?

We've seen this before. What we see is SW2013 ignoring the "start up" flag in the "Add-In Manager": there seems to be a bug that causes all add-ins to be loaded regardless of how the user has set the flag.

What version of SW2014 are you using?

We can also reproduce this.

SW2014 ignores the "start up" flag (as shown on the "Add-In Manager" panel) and always loads add-ins regardless. In SW 2014 Beta 2, the "start up" flag is always cleared (set to zero) and other versions of the application will not load the add-in automatically.

We have reported the problem to Dassault Systèmes (SR ref. 1-4235597886). We recommend that customers testing SW 2014 Beta affected by this issue also report the problem to Dassault.

HI jalcad,

Dassault is having problems reproducing the issue on their own systems. We do not know why.

I did get a reply back from SW support.

The issue you have submitted is a known issue that has already been found in SolidWorks 2014 Beta1.
Renaming SolidWorks current user key seems to solve this problem. Please do the following steps: Close all SolidWorks sessions Type in regedit in windows start menu Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solidworks Right-click on SolidWorks-> rename to SolidWorks*** This should fix the problem

We also got that information and we have just confirmed it: renaming the Registry key prevents the problem.

I am running Solidworks 2014 SP0 (the full release - not a beta).

On my Spacemouse Pro, None of the buttons work (only the puck works), and as another user mentioned, when I go into the mapping panel, there is no list of features on the left to select from.

I tried renaming the Solidworks folder in the registry as previously mentioned, however this did not help in my case. Any advise?

Update to my previous post: I just upgraded the 3dconnexion driver to the latest version, and my problem has been solved.
