3DXSRV.EXE using an entire core

Running a Core 2 Duo, Win 7 64 SP1, Autodesk Inventor 2014 Pro.

Every 10 - 15 minutes I get a severe lag from everything I try to do. Inventor commands grind to a halt, background apps (Pandora for example) start skipping. Go to task manager and see nothing. Nothing, except when I start moving the 3D Navigator. During this prolonged lag spike, 3dxsrv.exe consumes 50% of CPU resources (an entire core), but only when I try to use it. Then after a couple of minutes the lag inexplicably goes away and the exe is back to normal usage. I've had this problem for quite a while and through driver upgrades of the Navigator.

which antivirus software do you have installed? Do you see an improvement of the situation if you create an exception for the driver in your antivirus software?
