Hi all, I'm on 3Ds Max 2012 64 bit, Win 7 64bit and using the spacenavigator with the latest ver 10.1.2 driver.
When I'm in plan view or elevation view I can't rotate with the spacenavigator, I have to click on the 'orbit subobject' button and break away from the direct view with my mouse, then I can rotate freely. I can pan up and down, left and right and I can zoom in and out, I just can't rotate. Is this a common problem? are there any fixes available?

Re: Can't rotate off orthographic views in 3DS Max with spac
Hello loofer,
I am not sure if I understood your request correctly. In 3dsmax you have different viewports and the rotation is available by design only in the Orthographic view. If you click to one of the planes of the ViewCube in 3dsmax you switch to that plane and the rotation is off for that window. As soon as you move the ViewCube or switch to Perspective or Orthographic view the rotation is available. This is by design.
Does this help or did I understand your request wrong?

Re: Can't rotate off orthographic views in 3DS Max with spac
I didn't realise rotation was disabled in 'top' view, is there any chance this can be an option that can be disabled? I tend to jump to Top view in order re-orient myself if I get lost in a scene and it's irritating to have to click extra keys to get my rotation back.
