I have a shortcut in my toolbar which with a single click will bring up the 3dXware Control Panel. It was easy to create that shortcut. Here's something else I noticed- If I go into the 3DXware control panel, I can select functions which are not available in the Button Mapping Editor. Two of these functions I like to use- toggle information window and Snap View. I would guess that maybe I shouldn't be selecting functions with the 3D...

Thanks for the tips. I deleted the old configurations and it seems to be working properly now. I could tell the 5000 wasn't quite happy immediately after I deleted them, but after I brought up the control panel from the NX5 Gateway, it repopulated the 3DxWare Panel.

One other point of information- I am using the Spaceball 5000 on a Dell M6300 laptop which doesn't have a serial port. However, there is a serial port on the docking station and that is where I have the SB5000 connected.
