3Dconnexion Control Panel can''t open it...

Post by mich. »

Hello,

I've got the SpaceNavigator (PE) and own an iMac, running Tiger, and running a virtual machine of XP Pro (VMWare Fusion) in order to be able to run and use Rhino 4.0.

Now, I have installed the drivers for both OSX and XP, in OSX everything is working fine, I can use the device and can simply access and change the settings of the SpaceNavigator. For XP this is a problem, I'm not able to open the Control Panel, I have rebooted the virtual machine; didn't help, removed the driver and installed it again, and again didn't help.

What might be causing this problem, how can this be fixed?

Thanks,
Michel.

Hi Michel,

It could be that vmware has an issue with USB devices and do not passing the data to windows.

Please note that this setup is not officially supported by us.

Hi Sebastian,

Still, I should be able to run/open the Control Panel > '3dxsrv', but this isn't the case. I am able to run: '3DxCfgWiz' and '3dxrepair'.

Michel.

The panel only opens if a device is found. No device, no panel.

To check if a device is present, have a look in this Knowledge Base article.

Hi Nuno,

Problem solved. Removed the USB plug and stuck it back and XP suddenly noticed their was new hardware... Now I'm able to open the panel. And yes the SpaceNavigator is working just perfect inside Rhino 4.0. I only need to get used to it.

Anyhow, thanks.
