Blender v5.x - Weird view behaviour

Post by LeDonMacaron »

Hi, I've been using my Spacemouse in Fusion 360 for a while and it works great there - navigation, the buttons, everything.

I wanted to start using it in Blender, and initially tried it in v3 LTS. The navigation there worked just as it does in Fusion: the cap represents your object (model), and the model mirrors all movements of the cap.

I then updated to Blender v5 LTS, and the navigation seems to work completely differently. The cap seems to represent the CAMERA, so if I push the cap away from me, the object gets CLOSER. If I move the cap to the left, the object pans to the RIGHT. It's kind of like controlling a fly that is zooming around your model, rather than controlling the model itself.
I've tried modifying loads of the Blender nav/input settings, but it seems impossible to restore the behaviour I had in v3. (Note that I've set it to "Object" mode, not "Fly" mode which I would probably expect to behave this way.)

What's going on? Is this a change made by 3D connexion, or the Blender devs?
I would really like to be able to use the latest version of Blender, but this makes it borderline impossible to use when I'm used to the CAD-style navigation.

(The buttons also don't seem to work, but I think I'd probably better focus on one issue at a time!)
