No Rotation in AutoCad 2008 with Spacepilot

Post by admirera »

I have 3dxWare rel: 3.6.11; Driver: 6.6.4; firmware: 3.12, every since I have installed the newer AutoCad 2008 (I have updated twice) the rotations do not work in AutoCad. I never experienced this with older versions. Is there something I am missing?

Advanced Setting Tab

Post by Bryan »

Dear admirera,

In the 3Dconnexion Control Panel, under the Advanced Setting Tab, what do you find checked when in the same configuration that you are in when you experience the loss of rotations?

Sincerely,
Bryan

No Rotation in AutoCad 2008 with Spacepilot

all of the boxes on the left are toggled on in the Advanced setting tab. I have also pressed the 3d button on the device off/on and it doesn't seem to matter.

Jet Demo Behavior

Post by Bryan »

Dear admirera,

When you say you have updated twice. Are you talking about AutoCAD 2008 or the 3DxSoftware 3.6.11?

What Operating System do you have?

What behavior do you observe in the Jet Demo?
(Start, All Programs, 3Dconnexion, 3Dconnexion 3DxWare, Demos)

Jet Demo Behavior

Post by admirera »

I have updated the 3-d connection software twice.

The only application that does not rotate is AutoCad 2008. The demo software, Pro-E, Metrology software, all work without a problem. Only Mechanical Desktop 2008. If I try to rotate, the CS icon turns to Red, blue & green larger 3-d icon, but it never rotates in 3-d space. I have been able to play with the 3-d navigation and get some things to rotate, but they seem to be completely different that what I get with Pro-E or other applications that I use the Space Pilot for.

Dear admirera,

What mode are you in when you have trouble rotating?

Which Mode

Post by admirera »

None of the modes that I have tried appear to work inside AutoCAD 2008 like I had previously.

Which Visual Modes?

Post by Bryan »

Dear admirera,

Under the 'View Menu' in Autocad, you should have a listing for 'Visual Mode'. Which Visual Mode are you in when having trouble rotating? Switch from 2D to 3D mode to allow the rotation to work.

Sincerely,
Bryan G.

Space Explorer also not working with Mechanical Desktop 2008

Post by kevkersting »

I seem to be having the same issue.

I just recieved my Space Explorer & installed it a few minutes ago. I can't seem to get it to work inside Autocad.
It works fine in Solid Works 2009 Pro.

I installed the latest driver off the web site when I first installed.

Thank you for any help.

Hi kevkersting,

Do you see 3dxautocad.arx loaded if you use the "_appload"-command?

Hello Robert,

No, 3dxautocad.arx was not loaded. I did load it & now the zoom & pan works, but rotation only works within the 3dorbit command. Is this the way it is supossed to work?

Thanks for your quick reply.

Hi,

You can also just switch to another visual style:

Code: Select all

View->Visual Styles->Wireframe
UPDATE:
Maybe this Knowledgebase Article will also help you.
