SpaceNavigator, Inventor 2010

Post by Ju9or »

Hey there
I have problems with my Spacenavigator.
My buttons are configured like this:
L = Zoom all
R = Rotations

This works fine... for a certain amount of time - then suddenly the buttons switch back to standard-config:
L = Fit
R = 3DxWare Panel

Then I can re-configure and start over... until 5 min og 1 hour later. Then it fucks up again...
I've tried to configure all the users to my setting. Same result. I've tried to save my configuration under a new name. Same problem...

Am I the only one with this problem? Is there any solution to it?
Before Win7, Inventor 2010, I had WinXP, Inventor 2010 - same problem...

I hope a kind person can help me out :)

Different Configurations for different modes.

Post by Bryan »

Dear Ju9or

Each user has their own set of configurations.
Each application will have it own set of configurations
and with in an application various modes may each have their own configuration.
You may be switching to a different configuration when you switch to sketching that would need to be be set up independently from the other configuration designed for the other mode.

Sincerely,
Bryan g.

Hi Bryan

Thanks for fast reply :)

Yes - I found out about the users and configurations.

I have 4 users in the Control Panel.
Any application
Jesper
Inventor
Inventor - Jesper

The settings for each profile is adjustable independently. But if I set up the profil called Any application and switch to the Inventor profile and back, the settings is reset. Overall speed, Zoom direction and the button config is affected.

If I open Inventor and works in the environment its all good until I create or edit a sketch. The the settings is changed. Until I exit the sketch again. Then they are back to normal.

I've tried to edit a sketch and while being in the sketch go to control panel and change my settings. And it works - until next time I enter a sketch...

So my work is being interrupted everytime I create og edit a sketch, by the need to open control panel, change settings and going back to Inventor again. I'm getting prety fast at it :)

But still... I could save enormous amounts of time (and irritation) if it would work properly... :)

If it helps:
Release Version: 3.10.1
(Driver version 6.10.0)
Firmwave version: 4.04
Device type: SpaceNavigatior

I got an error-message during installation of the driver:
Error 1327. Invalid drive Z:

And later in the installation the error changed to 1306 (AFAIR... or was is 1106? - something ending on 6 :))

I managed to install the driver anyway, and it works like it did in XP. So I don't think this has anything to do with the behavior of the control panel..

'Automatically Save Configuration'

Post by Bryan »

Dear Ju9or,

Under the 'Options' Menu in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel, do you have 'Automatically Save Configuration' checked on?

Sincerely,
Bryan g.

You shouldn't be using the 3DxWare panel to adjust Inventor options. Use the panel inside Inventor. It overwrites anything you do in the 3DxWare panel.

@Bryan:
Yes - It's turned on.

@jwick:
How do I get acces to that panel? I just double-click on the 3D Connexion-icon in the notification area bottom right of my screen...
