In the step for the clean install it asked you to locate files under
C: --> Documents and Settings --> [Username] --> Application Data --> 3Dconnexion --> 3DxWare --> profiles
You said you donot have a Documents and settings folder this is for Win XP only.
Which is correct you have Win 7
You file location is:
C: --> Users --> [Username] --> AppData -->Roaming---> 3Dconnexion --> 3DxWare --> profiles
Once you locate the folder profiles you delete the contents inside.
These files are where the button mappings for the device are saved.

Thanks for sticking with me on sorting the problem. I finally found the button mappings folders; Windows had kindly seen to make these hidden folders! I have found and deleted these and again followed the clean up of the rest of the files as previously described. All now WORKS!
